Agency Tour

Last night Student United Way went on our Agency Tour of the semester, where we get to hear from different agencies that are under United Way. We started at The Office on Children and Youth and learned about the survey research they do on teens in the area.
After the OCY, we heard from the Valley Program for Aging Services and their many services they offer to elderly, including senior centers and Meals on Wheels. Then we toured Caregivers Community Networks, which has a class of nursing students visit a family's home in order to give the caregiver some time for their own needs. Finally, we toured the Gus Bus (pictured below) and heard about their great program of encouraging children to read more.

Guest Speaker- Second Home

This past Monday, Student United Way had the director of Second Home, Patty Sensabaugh stop by to share how their nonprofit is helping children's lives. She gave our organization a quick training so we can volunteer on October 18th.

It's not too late to be trained for those who missed the meeting. Check out their website or email Patty at sensabaugh@gmail.com to volunteer!
